Sikh Grandmother Recognized for Dedication to Multi-Faith Education

On October 12, 2003 Newsday reported that Rajinderjit Singh,an advocate for Sikh women such as herself and a gently outspoken activist for multifaith education, will be one of three recipients of the 2003 Faith Fellowship Award presented by the Gathering of Light Multifaith Spiritual Fellowship. The Glen Head grandmother became became a founding board member and Sikh representative at the Long Island Multi-Faith Forum's inception, and today is president and founder of the East & West Association of Sikh Women for Interreligious Education, which she created after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. "Everyone has become conscious that we need to educate people about Sikhs because of our turbans," she said.
