On June 7, 2004 the Daily Borough News reported, "Sikh drivers for a Long Island City limousine company almost came to blows with management yesterday over demands that they trim their beards and wear specific colored turbans.

A heated argument over a dress code nearly erupted into a street brawl outside Skyline Credit Line Inc. offices., as drivers and managers had to be restrained after some Sikh drivers felt insulted because the new regulations conflicted with their religious beliefs.

But company heads had rescinded the demand Monday afternoon, after some had complained, with a broadcast over car radios that drivers could disregard the directives. But not all drivers heard the broadcast, and yesterday they held a protest that almost turned ugly."
