Vancouver -- An injunction application by Shell Canada to get native protesters off a road in northwestern British Columbia was adjourned yesterday and might not be heard for weeks.
Meanwhile, Tahltan elders can continue blocking the access road near Dease Lake that Shell wants to use to explore for coal-bed methane gas in an area known as the Klappan, where the Skeena, Nass and Stikine Rivers are all born.
The Tahltan refer to the area as the sacred headwaters.
Shell agreed to adjourn the case in B.C. Supreme Court after lawyers for Tahltan members asked that the matter be put off indefinitely.
