It's a group that brings an important contribution to the city's culture, but many in society know very little about American Muslims. The goal of a new campaign in San Francisco is to change that, by opening the lines of communication.

After 9/11, and with U.S. troops engaged in Iraq and Afghanistan, misconceptions and stereotypes persist about Muslims and their religion.

"Everybody thinks that somehow Muslims are connected to terrorism," said Muhammad Hanif with the Bay Area chapter of the Islamic Circle of North America.

He says it's time to break down the barriers and declare Muslims are people of peace, and proud traditions.
