On March 23, 2006 WWaytv3.com reported, "The same group that puts Bibles in hotel rooms across America now wants to give Bibles to kids in Brunswick County public schools. In a split decision, the Brunswick County School Board recently voted to allow it. The Gideons are the Christian group that wants to give away the Bibles. And the religious literature could be in the public schools as early as this spring. It's a decision that could bring a lot of attention to Brunswick County schools. The Gideons will soon be allowed to make copies of the New Testament available to students on school grounds. The Christian group requested the privilege in a letter to the school board, and Vice Chairman Shirley Babson voted in their favor."
