On January 31, 2005 the Associated Press reported, "The Saudi Arabian government has had a role in the distribution to American mosques of documents that reflect a 'totalitarian ideology of hatred that can incite to violence,' according to a new report. The report, published by Freedom House's Center for Religious Freedom, was based on a year-long examination of over 200 documents that, it said, were disseminated, published or otherwise generated by the Saudi government. Most of the documents assembled for the report are in Arabic. They were distributed to more than a dozen mosques... Publications that 'advocate an ideology of hatred have no place in a nation founded on religious freedom and toleration,' James Woolsey, Freedom House board chairman, wrote in the foreword to the report. Some of the documents assert that it is a religious obligation for Muslims to hate Christians and Jews. They warn against imitating, befriending, or helping them in any way, or taking part in their festivities and celebrations, the report said."
