On December 2, 2003 The State Hornet published an article on religious organizations on Sacramento State University campus. Currently there are 12 religious organizations on campus that encompass many of the world’s faiths, including Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism. The Sikh Students Association began on campus as a response to the confusion and ill will spawned by Sept. 11. According to the article, the organization is founded upon the beliefs originating in the Punjab region of India and formed only weeks after the terrorist attacks as a way to inform students about the religion. The group is currently attempting to get Sikhism added to the curriculum of the world religions class.
