An imam who claimed he was unfairly dismissed from a Newcastle mosque has won an £17,500 settlement.
Hamidur Rahman took the Shahjalal Mosque in Sceptre Street, Elswick, to an employment tribunal after he was sacked for misconduct in July 2006.
Lawyers believe it is the first time an imam has successfully claimed against a mosque in the UK.
