On April 14, 2006 The Journal News reported, "Jaslin Chopra hosted a get-together last night to introduce her friends to an important celebration in her religion. Chopra, who came to America from India 30 years ago, is Sikh. She planned to mark the holy day known as Baisakhi with prayers at the gathering at her Suffern home. The holiday is traditionally a time for the family to unite, but the realities of daily life sometimes make an elaborate celebration difficult, she said. Typically, Chopra and her family will pray on Baisakhi, then make an offering that symbolizes the first fruits of the season."
