A colourful display of singing, dancing and fireworks was enjoyed by Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists at the county's biggest Diwali celebration.
About 200 people crowded into the Swansgate Centre in Wellingborough yesterday to see the Diwali lights switched on in the Market Square and Market Street.
Members of the Indian community and passing shoppers formed a ring to watch dancing, drumming and a professional singer perform.
Girls also performed a dance with sticks, symbolising the end of a nine-day stick dancing festival.
Organiser Vinod Dattani said: It's a joyous celebration. It gives everyone a chance to meet each other and celebrate Diwali.
