On November 13, 2003 The Interfaith Alliance reported that it "lauds the Alabama Court of the Judiciary for removing former Alabama Chief Justice Roy S. Moore from his statewide constitutional post." Reverend James Evans, president of The Interfaith Alliance of Alabama and pastor of Crosscreek Baptist Church, expressed his hope that "'the people of faith who have supported Judge Moore will also see how inappropriate his actions were. As Christians we are instructed by the Scriptures to obey the laws of the land. Judge Moore’s unwillingness to follow the dictates of a legitimate court of the United States is not only a failure of his role as citizen, but also a failure to do what God expects from all of us.'"
