Religious Leaders Condemn New Delhi Bombings

On October 30, 2005 the Indo-Asian News Service reported, "Eminent religious leaders Sunday expressed their condolences and condemned Saturday's bomb blasts in the national capital that left 59 people dead and 210 injured ahead of the Hindu festival of Diwali and the Muslim festival of Eid. 'The Shahi Imam has condemned the terrorist attack in Delhi terming it as unfortunate and against humanity,' said Rahat Mahamood, the spokesperson of the Jama Masjid... Cardinal Telesphore Toppo of the Catholic Bishop Conference of India said: 'We strongly denounce the act of violence that claimed several innocent and precious lives. Our deep sympathy goes to the bereaved families and we pray that god may grant peace to those departed souls and give strength to all those who bear the loss from these heinous crimes.'"
