On October 8, 2002, The Interfaith Alliance issued a letter to President Bush "on behalf of the boards of directors of The Interfaith Alliance and The Interfaith Alliance Foundation and the 150,000 members of these organizations who come from over 50 different religious traditions... We urge you not to act unilaterally against Iraq, but to work cooperatively with the United Nations and our international neighbors... We plead with you not to alter the character of our nation by taking preemptive military action against Iraq but to pursue all possible non-violent alternatives to address the non-compliance of Saddam Hussein and his government."
