On May 23, 2003 the Boston Herald reported that "police found a swastika painted on the front door of Temple Israel on Tuesday morning, the day the second installment of CBS's 'Hitler, the Rise of Evil' aired. The word 'Juden' - German for 'Jew' - was next to the Nazi symbol... 'My feeling is, and I'm not the only one, that some of this may have been in response to the show,' said Rabbi Benjamin Lefkowitz... Lefkowitz's Temple Beth Sholom in Hull cooperates with Temple Israel, a congregation that conducts serices only during the summer... The use of the word 'Juden' fueled the speculation of the link to the TV show, he said."
