On November 10, 2004 The Independent reported, "The Governing Council of the Ecumenical Apostolic Church Diocese has selected the president of the West African state of Sierra Leone Ahmad Tejan Kabbah for the African Inter-Religious Peace Award. He won the award for the religious tolerance that exists in the country. Sierra Leone was also recently nominated by the US as one of the most religious tolerant countries in the world. In Sierra Leone, it is common to see churches and mosques built very close to each other and that creates very little difference between Christians and Muslims. It has been observed that most of those who convert to the 'Muscular Churches' known as African evangelical churches that claim to have power to perform miracles, were Muslims.
