On July 5, 2005 The Tennessean reported, "Vandals threw fireworks and pieces of rock at the Lao Buddhapathip Temple on Glenmont Drive early yesterday morning, Metro Police Capt. Mike Hagar said. The damage was discovered and reported by one of the monks entering the Buddhist temple about 7 a.m., Hagar said. The Metro bomb squad, officers from the South Precinct and the Joint Terrorism Task Force conducted the initial investigation. Hagar said three area teenagers had been identified as suspects and would probably be charged later this week."
