On March 21, 2005 The News Journal reported, "Yorktown Planning Board hearing continues on plans to divide the former Franciscan High School property to allow for a Muslim center on part of the land... As much as the prospect of the Muslim center has stirred debate, it is not really on the table yet. Before Bill Catucci can sell the school property and 7 acres around it to the Jamal family, he wants to divide it from 23 acres that contain playing fields, several rental homes, the stone mansion and one of the property's most unusual features — a four-story tower cabin, part windmill, part pagoda. The Yorktown Planning Board will continue a hearing on that request April 11. Should the board allow the subdivision, the Jamal family would need permission to operate a religious school, community center and mosque."
