On December 20, 2004 The Australian reported, "Christian churches are divided about a religious vilification ruling that could see a failed Senate candidate for the religious-based Family First party forced to pay damages. Danny Nalliah, a pastor from the Christian fundamentalist church Catch the Fire Ministries, was found guilty of breaching Victoria's Racial Discrimination Act by vilifying Muslims. The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal found Mr Nalliah and fellow church member Daniel Scot had demeaned Muslims at a seminar in March 2002 and in several articles published in the church's newsletter. In a landmark ruling, judge Michael Higgins said on Friday that an article in the church's newsletter, written by Mr Nalliah, incited fear and hatred of Muslims, as did a third article by a person identified as Richard, which claimed it was impossible to separate Islam from terrorism."
