On September 28, 2004 The Times of India reported, "The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) and legislators representing minority communities, including Sikhs in Pakistan have reacted with horror to Saturday's attack of the Nankana Sahib Gurudwara, said to be the birthplace of Guru Nanak. Tahir Mohammad Khan and Hina Jilani, chairman and secretary-general of the HRCP, said the incident was a reflection of the growing religious intolerance in the subcontinent. 'The incident is an indication that minorities are unsafe in the country,' the Daily Times quoted both as saying in a statement on Monday evening. The HRCP said the incident called for addressing minorities' problems with greater sensitivity, and that steps should be taken to ensure religious freedom for all minorities in the country."
