On August 14, 2004 Kalamazoo Gazette reported, "Artists with a flair for paganism will be featured at this year's Pagan Pride Day festival scheduled for Sept. 18 in Milham Park. Up to 30 new and established artists will be featured at the day-long event. 'The theme of the show will be that of the Pagan Pride Day event, with shamanism, spiritual and natural expressions in digital, two-dimensional and three-dimensional art,' says Susan "Jo" Conklin in a press release. Those attending the festival will have a chance to vote on their favorite works of art. Along with the art show, the festival will include workshops, live theater, tribal drumming, interfaith discussion, harvest ritual celebrations with local religious organizations, vendors and a food drive to benefit a local food pantry. The local event is one of more than 150 Pagan Pride festivals taking place around the world in September. Festivals are also being planned in Grand Rapids, Jackson and Sault Ste. Marie."
