On October 22, 2003 the Maple Ridge - Pitt Meadows News reported that "more and more young boys are getting into wicca, says the owner of a local store that will host an introduction seminar to the neo-Pagan religion...The seminar is part of a Samhain - the wiccan new year or Halloween - celebration...Sacred Circle Books [where the seminar is being held], which opened in June, sells wiccan books, as well as herbs, candles and tarot cards....[Barb Turgeon, owner of the store] said she's been getting many young customers, especially boys around 12 years old, asking about wicca, especially in the past 18 months...Harry Potter may have spawned their interest. 'Perhaps that is how it started,' Turgeon said."
