BAHA’I FAITH BICENTENNIAL BIRTHS OF THE BAB AND BAHA’U’LLAH OCTOBER 2017 The world’s Baha’i community is gearing up to celebrate the twin-celebration of their Holy Days – the Birth of the Bab and the Birth of Baha’u’llah. One of the world’s most recent religions, the Baha’is are today present in every continent, and have some of the world’s most beautiful houses of worship, such as the Lotus Temple in Delhi (one of the most visited buildings in the world) and the new House of Worship in Chile.

Is Christmas still a religious holiday?

Christmas is more than just a religious holiday. As the Pew Research Center found in 2013, about 81 percent of non-Christians celebrate Christmas in the United States. That includes people without religion, Buddhists, Hindus and American Jews. In fact, close to one-third of Jewish people (32 percent) have a Christmas tree in their homes during the December months, according to Pew.

Thousands gather for Walk With Mary in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe

WASHINGTON - People on the sidewalks of Washington momentarily stopped their holiday shopping and paused in the cold on December 10 to take in the sight of hundreds of pilgrims processing through the streets alongside images of Mary. The feast brings together people of all ages and backgrounds, but it is a particularly special event for the Hispanic Catholic community.

Bandi Chhor Divas literally translates to “prisoner’ release day.” Sikhs commemorate this day as the day of liberation for their Sixth Guru Hargobind Sahib along with 52 Hindu political prisoners detained during the reign of Mughal Emperor Jahangir.
