On November 8, 2004 The KCRG-TV9 Cedar Rapids Newsroom reported, "the first Hindu temple in eastern Iowa opened its doors in Cedar Rapids Sunday. Close to two-hundred and fifty Indians can now enjoy the Hhindu 'Mandir', which means temple. Religious services were held in the North Liberty Community Center prior to the opening of the facility."
