On May 4, 2004 The Oklahoman reported, "Two public prayer services will be held Thursday at the state Capitol in observance of National Day of Prayer. A service at noon on the south steps will be an interfaith one, while a prayer gathering at 11:40 a.m. in the second floor rotunda will focus on Christian- Judeo values. 'Interfaith Day of Prayer and Reflection' is designed to celebrate religious diversity within Oklahoma and the nation by sharing a common commitment to religious liberty and freedom of conscience, said Bruce Prescott, a Baptist minister who helped coordinate the effort as president of the Oklahoma chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State. The service is also sponsored by Stop Theocracy in Oklahoma Policy (STOP), along with Mainstream Oklahoma Baptists."
