The Muslim population of a growing town has increased from several hundred to 10,000 from 28 different countries in the last 10 years.
Muslims celebrating the end of Ramadan on Friday in Northampton filled their four make-shift mosques.
Imams are asking the borough council for land to build a central mosque.
The Muslim leaders said they are not asking for money just a place to build and the borough council said it is looking for the land they need.
The population originally came from India and Pakistan but it has now been expanded by Somalis moving to the town and Muslims from other parts of the world.
