On March 5, 2003 Voice of America reported that "U.S. investigators say worshippers at a mosque in New York City helped a prominent Yemeni cleric raise millions of dollars to finance terrorism... The allegations, in court papers unsealed Wednesday in a federal courthouse in Brooklyn, focus on the Al-Farouq mosque in Brooklyn and its alleged link to suspected terrorist fundraiser Sheikh Mohammed Ali Hassan al-Moayad. The papers identify the cleric as one of five chief fundraisers in New York for terrorist operations... Mr. Moayad, arrested January 10 in Germany, is accused of personally delivering $20 million to Osama bin Laden. U.S. officials are seeking Mr. Moayad's extradition from Frankfurt, and have until March 31 to provide German authorities with evidence supporting the custody transfer."
