Today, the Muslim Public Affairs Council and the Council on American-Islamic Relations urged interfaith dialogue between Indian Muslims and Hindus in the wake of last week's Mumbai attacks.

The call for an interfaith effort came on the heels of a two-day initiative in New York, where local Muslims and Jews joined in offering condolences and prayers for victims of the Mumbai attacks during the Muslim Friday afternoon service, and the Jewish Saturday evening prayer. Each event included sermons from religious leaders Imam Shamsi Ali from the Islamic Cultural Center of New York, and Rabbi Marc Schneier from the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding.
