On October 19, 2003 Yahoo! News posted an Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) article that reported, "An influential Muslim body has called for reservation in government jobs for 'Dalit Muslims,' saying they constitute a large chunk of the community in India and are very poor. The All India Muslim Personal Law Board says it favours jobs quotas for the 'Dalit Muslims' -- or socially marginalized Hindus who converted to Islam a long time ago. Board spokesperson Qaseem Rasool Illyas told IANS: 'Our stand is clear - that Dalit Muslims should get the benefit of reservation like Dalit Hindus and Christians.'"
