On July 18, 2003 MPACnews reported that "Since February of 2002, Cornerstone Theater Company, a community-based theater company, has been meeting with members of the Los Angeles and Orange County Muslim communities.  The result of these meetings is 'You Can’t Take It with You (hel-Yome): an American Muslim Re-mix,' a play based on the stories and experiences of the Muslim community in Southern California... 'You Can’t Take It with You (hel-Yome): an American Muslim Re-mix' is a modern-day adaptation of the American comedy classic You Can't Take it With You by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman. The play, adapted by Peter Howard and directed by Mark Valdez, will premiere in October and will include at least two-dozen Muslim community-based artists onstage and backstage collaborating with Cornerstone's ongoing ensemble. The hope is that this play will bring together Muslims and non-Muslims to share in the rich tradition and culture of the Muslim community.
