On October 31, 2002 Satya Circle printed a letter from Satveer Chaudhary, Minnesota State Senator and advisor to The Satya Circle. It stated, "Dear Community, U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone, his wife Sheila, daughter Marcia and his staff were friends of mine. The people who died in yesterday's plane crash were seen at every turn of my campaigning - in trouble or in victory. And we were seen at theirs. Here in Minnesota, the Chaudhary family has felt it's guts ripped out by the loss of not one, but many friends. But more importantly, Paul Wellstone was OUR friend. As chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on the Near East and South Asia, Paul had intimate involvement with issues important to us. He was a stalwart for peace and prosperity for all South Asian countries. Even before then, Wellstone was among chief proponents for education, prescription drug coverage, a medical practice free from HMO bureaucracy, and small business support. But more importantly, as the son of Russian immigrants and a fighter for those without a voice, Wellstone was Indian-Americans' natural ally, and he never let us down. After September 11, Paul stood with Indian-Americans of all persuasions - Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Jain and alike - to condemn reprisals against us."
