On October 7, 2003 The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that "a Muslim group that ran into heavy opposition to its proposed construction of a mosque has found new allies. Some members of Christian denominations are working in area churches to build support for the Voorhees project. Lori Volpe, a Voorhees resident, said yesterday that the Coalition for Multi-Faith Democracy had been formed last week to help make sure 'all faiths are treated equally and welcomed into the community.' The group of at least a dozen people - nearly all from Voorhees - includes Catholics, Methodists, Unitarians and Muslims. They say their number is increasing as they discuss the issue at their places of worship."
