On October 27, 2005 the Muslim Public Affairs Council reported, "MPAC [Muslim Public Affiairs Council] leadership attended iftars hosted by the Department of Treasury, the State Department, the White House, the US Agency for International Development, and the European Union. At each event, they raised pressing concerns from the community. These events have significant symbolism for the perceived place of Muslims and their faith within American culture and tradition. They also serve to compliment the rich substantive exchange between MPAC and the United States government in its various departments and bureaus. MPAC is encouraged by the past year and continues to urge President Bush to lead his cabinet and their respective departments on a road that is inclusive of Muslims at the policy-making level."
