Celebrating the Mother Day marked with much enthusiasm in the United States as Sikh Women's Day, the Gurdwara Sahib at Fremont initiated a new tradition, thanks to the efforts of dedicated community activist Bibi Sarabjit Kaur Cheema.

Sarabjit Kaur, former vice president of Fremont Gurdwara, hailed the status given to women in Gurbani and Sikhism and exhorted the Sikh women and others to dedicatedly observe the day in order to underline the great values of Sikhism as far as women were concerned.

Bibi Amitosh Kaur spoke about the role of women not just in history but also in contemporary times and their contribution to the society. Bibi Gurbakhash Kaur Kahlon, Senior Supreme Council member of the gurdwara, also spoke of the importance of the day and said it was a matter of pride that the Sikh women were gathered to mark such a day.
