On February 24, 2004 Houston 2 News reported that "federal investigators are looking into a possible case of arson after fire erupted Monday night at a southeast Houston house used for Muslim prayer meetings.

However, the home was not a total loss thanks to quick-acting neighbors, News2Houston reported. A father and son grabbed a garden hose and put out the fire after they smelled smoke coming from a home on the 3100 block of Cleburne around 10:30 p.m... Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents and local officials told News2Houston they believe the fire was intentionally set underneath the home.

Residents told officials the home had been the target of vandalism in the past."
