Monks escaping the military crackdown in Myanmar said they are regrouping in Thailand to prepare for more peaceful democracy demonstrations.
The monks traveled hundreds of miles from the capital of Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, to a remote location along the Thai-Burma border, Voice of America reported. Once in Thailand, the monks maintained a low profile, saying they were warned that Thai officials may deport them for traveling without papers.
The struggle will go on. Now, the people are re-energizing, a Buddhist monk told a VOA reporter during a meeting at a secret location in Thailand.
