On March 9, 2002, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that the First Unitarian Society in Milwaukee is marking International Women's History Month by hosting "Standing Before Us," a travelling exhibit of 72 display panels. The exhibit is on influential women in American history who "were Unitarians, Universalists or members of the association that was formed by consolidating the two denominations... Long known as one of the most liberal denominations in the United States, the Unitarian Universalist Association reached another historic milestone a few years ago when it reported that more than half of its ordained ministers were women."
