On July 19, 2004 The Record reported, "The Wat Dharmararam Buddhist Temple is throwing open its front door, literally, to the public today as it dedicates a new main gate, whose carvings reflect one of the great cultural and religious landmarks of Asia. The entrance is done in the style of a temple at Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Visitors will be able to attend the dedication, admire the art and architectural treasures of one of the city's least-known faith facilities, sample a wide array of Cambodian-style foods and observe some of the practices of the Buddhist faith... Mayor Gary Podesto will cut a ribbon at 10:30 a.m. that will officially open the entrance and recognize the temple for its two decades of service to the Cambodian and greater Stockton community."
