On July 19, 2006 the Muslim American Society reported, "On August 12, the Muslim American Society's Freedom Foundation (MAS Freedom) is co-sponsoring a National Emergency March on Washington to protest the current predicament of Muslims abroad and at home. The rally, which is expected to attract tens of thousands, will be held in Lafayette Park, across from the White House, at 12 noon. While the National Emergency March on Washington will focus on the plight of the Palestinian people and the recent atrocities in Gaza and Lebanon, it will also focus on the war in Iraq, in addition to the continuous violation of civil rights and civil liberties within the American Muslim community. By participating in and supporting the August 12 National Emergency March on Washington, American Muslims can rally in solidarity, bringing much needed attention to the plight of the Palestinian and Lebanese people suffering daily under deplorable living conditions. The August 12 march will also bring about a renewed focus regarding the attacks on Muslim right here in America as well."
