Members of the Islamic Center of the South Bay (ICSB) located in Lomita, CA have exemplified leadership through their persistence and direct engagement with the Planning Commission of Lomita regarding renovations they are planning to make for their center.

Recently, certain members of the broader Lomita community expressed concern with renovations ICSB wanted to make, citing the additional parking congestion in the neighborhood due to growth in mosque membership and the new architecture of the building not fitting the simple architecture of Lomita.

A diverse cross-section of the local Muslim community participated in the commission meeting where the issue would be decided. They addressed the stated concerns in front of the commission along with their partners from the South Coast Interfaith Council.
