In his book, Hansra is concerned with educating the reader about Sikhism, and especially, being Sikh in the United States. What is at stake for the author is his place, and the place of other American Sikhs, in the American Culture itself. Ignorance, misinformation, and cultural stereotyping often leads the public into labeling Sikhs as religious extremists or even terrorists. One has only to live in Yuba City for a small while to realize that quite the opposite is true: the Sikh Culture is as peaceful and tolerant as it is strong and unique.
