The Office of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has begun the distribution of rice to several mosques in Monrovia and its environs in commemoration of the Holy month of Ramadan. The distribution which began early this week covered the United Dawah Ummah mosque on 17th street, and the Unity Foundation Mosque, located around the Fish market in Sinkor. Mosques in central Monrovia including Gurley, Randall, and Benson streets also benefited from the Presidential gesture. The distributions also include notebooks, pens and pencils for pupils attending Muslim run schools.

According to an Executive Mansion release, Assistant Chief of Office Staff for Logistics, Mr. Varney Sirleaf made the presentations on behalf of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf when he visited the mosques.

Mr. Sirleaf said the donations were in line with the President's effort in identifying with the Muslim Community as it observes the Fast Month. He described the action by the President as a gesture from the depth of the President's heart.
