An eye-catching parade led by sword-wielding warriors burst on to the streets of Leeds to mark the Sikh New Year.The colourful procession of 1,000 people swept into the city centre to celebrate the annual Vaisakhi festival on Saturday.

The event travelled through Chapeltown, Harehills and Sheepscar, taking in city centre landmarks including Eastgate, The Headrow and Millennium Square, before heading back and finishing outside the Shiri Kagidhar Temple on Chapeltown Road.
