On February 23, 2004 ABC News 13 reported, "Some 600 members of a Laotian Buddhist Temple in northeast Harris County will have to improvise for New Year's celebrations after their temple burned down. Fire investigators are still looking for what caused the fire, but they say they know it was not set intentionally and it wasn't an electrical fire. Only a few monks and members were at the temple when it caught fire and all of them got out safely. Some of them tried to put out the fire themselves, but they were overmatched."
