On February 19, 2003 the Press Journal reported that "Kashi Ashram supporters got their prayers answered Tuesday with the Indian River County [FL] Commission's unanimous approval of the interfaith community's expansion plans... In a 5-0 vote, the commission rezoned Kashi's 78 acres west of Roseland Road and east of the St. Sebastian River from residential uses, at one home per acre, to a mixed-use planned development... The commission also approved a conceptual plan for 39 homes, 15 duplexes, five guesthouses, a spa, an enlarged school and worship hall, spaced at irregular intervals around the 25 acres of wetlands."
