On October 10, 2002 Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported that "despite assurances that the federal government wants citizens to report acts of racial or religious discrimination in the aftermath of last year's terrorist attacks, some members of Seattle's minority communities remain unconvinced. A forum in South Seattle... held by the Justice Department..., attended by about 150 people, was the seventh held across the nation by the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on America. Ralph Boyd Jr., assistant U.S. attorney general for civil rights, replied that the 'best judge of whether you can trust us is what we do when you come to us with problems.' He said the federal government had 'a good record, if not a great record' in responding to complaints.'"
