OAK PARK -- Jai Sura slowly filled his plate with unfamiliar, traditional Jewish foods.
"These look like tater tots," said Jai, 12, to a classmate in the lunch line at Congregation Beth Shalom, while scooping several onto his plate. "Yeah, they're probably tater tots."
But they weren't tater tots. They were falafel -- fried balls or patties of spiced fava beans or chickpeas.
