On March 11, 2005 the Daily Nebraskan reported, "the fourth day of the [University of Nebraska] Islamic Book Sale continued to draw curious students, faculty and staff, their hands and minds eager to explore the contents of the books... The book sale is in its fifth year, said association president Ahmed Makkawy. 'Basically, we started the book sale because there weren't any others like it,' the senior management major said. 'We thought about what we could do to teach people about Islam and answer their questions.' The group contacted IslamicBookstore.com, which helped to set up the fund-raiser. MSA uses the proceeds for future events, such as Ramadan Night in the fall."
