On December 27, 2002 The Gazette reported that "Johnson County officials Thursday formally agreed to the final wording of an 11-page report challenging the merits of a proposed Muslim youth camp near North Liberty... The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to send the document to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which is gathering public comment on the project. In its report, the county argues the project would overwhelm roads and put an unrealistic strain on existing public services."
