On June 17, 2004 Grand Rapids Press reported, "Interfaith discussions are great, but pray with caution. That was the upshot of a Christian Reformed Church policy on interfaith worship adopted by the CRC Synod on Wednesday. While encouraging CRC ministers to take part in interfaith dialogue, delegates cautioned they should be 'especially discerning when facing interfaith worship/prayer events in which their witness to Jesus Christ as only savior and Lord might be compromised'... [There was] controversy locally when objections from some churches, including CRCs, prompted the Grand Rapids Area Center for Ecumenism (GRACE) last year to pull out of an annual interfaith Thanksgiving service... The chairman of a committee that came up with the approved policy said the denomination should not dictate to churches regarding interfaith events."
