Interfaith Resources, an organized group of Siouxland congregations united to help the poor and disadvantaged, will soon begin its 25th year of service to the community.

Interfaith's season kicks off with its Sept. 10 board meeting, when plans for the silver anniversary year will be discussed. And by December plans will be initiated for a major celebration due at next May's annual banquet.

Treasurer Helen Lewis said Interfaith Resources is the only charity she knows of that gives everything back to the community. There are no paid employees, only volunteers. Although lacking a large operating budget, the group is still able to provide a compassionate response to the needs of the poor and disadvantaged in Siouxland, she said.

"I really can tell people that essentially we have no overhead -- once in a while some postage," she said. "But basically, when people contribute to Interfaith, all of that money goes into the community.
